Welcome!
This is a collective international directory of artist run, independent, and noncommercial spaces. This project highlights the ephemeral nature of these spaces that exist in this third realm -outside of the institution and commercial gallery.
The phrase ‘Left of the dial’ hails from the term used for underground music or ideas found on noncommercial radio stations with low-wattage. They are usually located at the lower end of the FM spectrum-- hence turning the radio’s dial to the left.
While the aesthetics may be bare bones, we chose a wiki as the easiest, most collaborative, and streamlined way to maintain, document, and archive these international initiatives. Please feel free to edit, add, and share.
